the program has developed into one that perpetuates poverty and
dependence - stifling hope, discouraging initiative and undermining

Mississippi, we have long been plagued by an imbalance of power
in state government. Our state's executive branch is far too weak
in authority for the effective, efficient management of the affairs
of the government. <more>
Mississippi
Republicans favor the conducting of a comprehensive review of
our state's tax code. The code has turned into a crazy-quilt collection
of special exemptions, favorite benefits and strange practices.

We
believe the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to
life that cannot be infringed. We therefore reaffirm our support
for a human life amendment to the Constitution, and we endorse
legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections
apply to unborn children. <more>

One
of the primary functions of state and local government is the
safety of citizens and the maintenance of law and order. Violent
crime is one of the gravest threats to our families and a burden
on our taxpayers. <more>

Mississippi
is blessed with irreplaceable natural resources. Our environmental
quality and the quantity of our natural resources are valuable
assets for promoting tourism, attracting new industries, and maintaining
the quality of life for our citizens. <more>
