The Mississippi Republican Party
PreambleMississippians – from the sandy beaches of the
Gulf Coast to the fertile lowlands of the Mississippi Delta,
from the vast woodlands of the Pinebelt to the gentle hills
along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway – have charged
the Mississippi Republican Party to guard the eternal principles
of liberty, security, and enterprise and to create Mississippi’s
Moment
- Our instructors must have the freedom to teach, our students
must have the opportunity to learn, and our policies should
focus on the classroom – not the boardroom.
- Mississippians should be secure in their homes, safe in
their schools, and free from fear at the neighborhood grocery
store or mall. Punishment for violent crime must be just,
swift, and certain.
- Creating a 21st Century infrastructure, freeing business
from wasteful and ineffective regulation or litigation, and
casting off the shackles of unwise and burdensome taxes will
nurture and propagate Mississippi’s Moment for economic
growth.
- Protecting and securing the "life, liberty, and property"
of Mississippians begins first with guarding the life of the
unborn child. Our policies should honor the sanctity of innocent
human life.
- Without responsibility, bureaucracy flourishes and government
grows. We must empower the executive branch of our government
with the tools to accomplish what we elect them to do.
- We must cut taxes, not shift them. We must remove the over-taxed
burden from the backs of hard working Mississippians. We must
demand that government stop wasting our money on failing and
unproductive programs and instead return our property to us.
- Natural resources can both be utilized and protected. This
is the balance our environmental policy must seek.
The promise of the bright and hopeful Mississippi we seek
is on the horizon, and not a deceptive and unattainable goal.
Better schools, safer streets, a prosperous economy that respects
life, liberty and property in a nurturing and resourceful
environment are a part of the future Mississippi seeks. This
is the future of Mississippi as seen by its Republican Party.
